Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to photograph a newborn?

For most newborn photographers the ideal time to photograph newborn babies is around 6-12 days of age. I agree with this but at the same time it is not an essential requirement for me. I have photographed 6 weeks old babies and the photos turn out beautifully as well, specially because of my simple and natural style. Each family can have different challenges that maybe will not allow them to have a photo-shooting during the early days of their little one, that’s why I give them the possibility to have their newborn session even until the 6 weeks of born. This are incredible memories that deserve to be captured in time and some extra weeks shouldn’t be a limitation to achieve this.

When and how to book a Newborn session?

The best time to contact me is between the 5th and 6th month of your pregnancy. You can do this using this form.

If your baby has already been born, it’s never too late to enquire, I’ll do the best to accommodate however I can. Births are unpredictable, which is why we will be flexible with your date. We will first make a tentative booking. When you arrive home from hospital with your new baby, you can contact me again to confirm or change the time and day for your session.

The price of your package choice is split into two payments: the first one is your retainer fee so that your time slot is held on my calendar. The second payment is the session’s day. If you do cancel within 48 hours before your session, a reschedule fee will be required to secure the next available spot. This is why it’s very important to keep in contact leading up to the birth.

How long does a shoot take? And what happens if I can’t keep the appointment after booking?

Pregnancy photos: take between 1 and 2 hours.

Newborn & Baby-Shootings: My newborn photography sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable for both you and your baby. I allow plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, and cuddling, so we can capture your baby’s natural expressions and moments of joy. Sessions typically last 1-3 hours.

Family photos: take between 1 and 2 hours.

Dear families, as you know, I usually spend hours preparing each session because I like each family to receive the special and individualized treatment they deserve. Therefore, if a family cannot make the scheduled appointment and fails to notify me at least 48 hours in advance, a fee of 100€ + VAT will be charged. This policy ensures that I can optimize my schedule and offer these time slots to other families. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation to keep the appointment.

Do you offer In-Home Newborn sessions?

Yes, I also take photos at your home. There are cases where the mother has not yet fully recovered from the birth of her baby and prefers to stay at home with her little one. But that doesn’t mean she has to miss out on capturing this beautiful moment of the new family member.  I usually organize an initial meeting or phone call with both parents to see photos of their home and determine if the space is suitable for the work.

*For sessions in your home, a travel fee of €35 + VAT will be charged (up to 7km from Berlin Mitte). This fee helps to cover the costs of transportation and setup. If you are located outside of this area, please contact me for a quote.

Do you have experience photographing newborn babies safely?

As a nanny, I had the opportunity to take care of some beautiful newborns and watch them grow. During that process I also did a first aid course for babies and children. I’ll never put your little treasure into positions that could potentially harm or cause injury. Their comfort and safety is my biggest priority.  I always try to pose newborns in common positions adopted by babies before they are born, so generally, this feels comfortable and familiar to them. Nevertheless, each baby is different and not all positions suit all babies. It can be due to how they lay in utero, whether they have digestion trouble or simply how sleepy they are. I like to work with each baby in a way that fits them, to ensure that they are comfortable and safe while I’m capturing beautiful images.

When can I see the images?

3-4 days after your session, you will receive an email with a link to a gallery of low-resolution, watermarked images from your session. You can download these images and select your favorites. Once you have made your selection, it will take 2-3 weeks for me to retouch your photos. You will then receive another link with the final images, which will be high-resolution and without watermarks. Professional prints on Crystal Archive Matte paper will be ready within 2-4 business days. If you wish, I can ship them to you by mail. The digital files will remain online for one week. If the link expires and I need to reload it, there will be an additional fee of €20 + VAT.

What happens if my baby is unsettled or awake?

Don’t worry! It’s all part of working with babies—at the end of it all, they’re our little bosses.  It's also important for me that you know this: to achieve good photos babies don’t necessarily have to be asleep. That’s a myth. If your little one is awake I will take beautiful “awake” photos, and when the right moment comes, your baby will be wrapped and comforted back to sleep. If your newborn is unsettled I’ll try all the tricks I know to make them feel relaxed. I normally like to use white noise, shushing, pacifiers if needed, an extra feeding from mom, and maybe a little attention from dad!

Only babies that are in a deep sleep can be posed in different —and safe—poses, so please try to have zero expectations for your new precious little one. The main thing is to get beautiful and natural photos, without forcing them to do poses they’re not comfortable doing. If your baby is crying and we can’t settle them with what we know usually works, we will discuss rescheduling.
